Greenville-Spartanburg Airport Environs Planning Commission — assuring land uses compatible with airport operations.
The airport environs enabling legislation was created via state statute in 1995 for the purpose of assuring land uses compatible with airport operations. The 1995 legislation created the airport environs area and the Greenville-Spartanburg Airport Environs Planning Commission, a board separately constituted from the Greenville-Spartanburg Airport Commission. The Greenville-Spartanburg Airport Environs Planning Commission is charged with the development of a land use plan for the Airport Environs area, updating the land use plan as necessary, and monitoring the administration and compliance with the plan by Greenville County, Spartanburg County, and the City of Greer.

If your property is located in the Airport Environs Area, a Proposed Development & Land Use Application must be submitted before beginning any construction or any change of tenant or use of a particular parcel of property located within the Airport Environs Area. This is to ensure the proposed land use or development will be consistent with the provisions of the Greenville-Spartanburg Airport Environs Area Zoning Ordinance.
